The spectrum of art is unknowable. The UIC BFA Thesis class begins their fall semester ripe with possibilities, and with every decision a student makes towards the production of their art, the closer they come to being pinned down by their own impetus. And so, here they are, the UIC BFA 2016 class, each pinned in by the immense gestures that have taken, and still are taking, place in their intimate, unique studio corner. The massive spectrum that you will find on view here still remains unknowable however no longer in the abstract, but in the visceral realm of experience. What is art for you? What should art do? What do you look for in a work of art? Why? And furthermore, should Art question or embody the very criteria you bring to it?
